Slughurlers Galore!!!!

Recently my alignment change has brought about a change in attitude, naturally. With that comes the desire for additional personal and family security. Add that to the fact that I like target shooting, Michigan is a shall issue state and octogenarians aren't even safe anymore. I have decided to get my CCW. The stars of this post are the first round of finalists.

What do you think of them.

Anyone got any advice or recommendations? Aside from telling me not to that is. That would be bad advice...

Springfield XD 45 ACP Compact 4" Polymer (convertible from concealed carry to full size service pistol with 3 extra rounds by switching magazines)
Taurus Millennium Pro PT-145 in .40 S&W
Taurus Millennium Pro PT-145 in .45 ACP
Springfield Armory XD Sub Compact in .40 S&W
Magnum Research Baby Eagle Compact in .40 S&W
Glock 29 in 10 mm
Glock 30 in .45 ACP (larger mag)
Glock 36 in .45 ACP (smaller mag)
Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Ultra Compact in .45 ACP (like the black grips...)

21 is the age of admittance to the club. That and a basic rule of thumb (NON-inclusive) is that you are over 21, not crazy, not a "major" criminal (felony, major misdemeanor), pass a safety course, resident of the state for 6 months. The full list is here: http://www.michigan.gov/msp/0,1607,7-123-1591_3503_4654-10926--,00.html

I like that one a lot too. That used to be my first choice. Lately the Baby Eagle and the XD Compact have been drawing my eye.

Cute? Twice? I don't know about it now. It is supposed to generate doubt, apprehension, even terror, NOT giggles and laughter!

But then again it does pack a nice little surprise (big bullet).

the 1911 is the best beginner gun on the planet. a revolver is not practical as a useful carry. maybe a ruger sp101 as a backup. that's what I carried as a backup.

ahhh im late but the eagle is my choice. I've always wanted one. I've never held a gun but I am sooooooooo wanting to.

As soon as I move to a larger city (out of these woods), i'm going to find me a club to go to and get my shoot on. ahhh i get all tingly just thinking about it.

You want a cannon? Them some big suckers. Might need a bipod for the sucker!

I would think it would be easier to find shooting clubs in the sticks than in the cities. Especially outdoor shooting.

A revolver is an excellent carry gun, Its more reliable than a semi auto and its not like your going into a gun fight, its for self defense 5 rounds are plenty. My self I carry either my Taurus 605SS or my XD-45c (the first gun in your list). Both are great guns the revolver is much easier to conceal and comfortable, and its backed up by its .357mag load!

Good to know. May look into those too.

I have the XD .40 in a 4" barrel. I also have the compact version. Both are exellent. I also have a compact Glock. The weights and feel are different in the Glocks and XD's but I think once you get used to it, the XD feels and fires great. Caution: if you're left handed, there are limited holsters for the XD's right now. You may also want to look into the new Ruger LCP. It's a .380 Auto, but the suckers super light and can easily be concealed in a front pants pocket.

I would stick with rhe Glock or Springfield. I have 4 Glock's and a couple of Sprinfields as well. I would avoid Taurus. Just my opinion. I have Glocks: 19, 26, 22 & 30. Also Springfield XD40 subcompact and 4" XD45. I favor my Glock 30 to carry. Just some input from a CCP holder in MN.

Springfield XD 45 all the way. 10 rounds of 45 power in a conceal carry with a 4" barrel. Accurate and powerful.

People who think a gun is cute are LIMs (Losers, Idiots and Morons).
